Aeron

Absurd money for a chair, and you can still buy parts for one made in 2004.

Indicative. Configuration and size change this considerably.

Verdict

We recommend this for one unglamorous reason. Parts availability measured in decades means the cost per year stops being ridiculous somewhere around year six, and almost no other furniture company can make that claim. What it will not do is fix how you sit. The Aeron supports a body that already moves, and sitting badly in one is still sitting badly.

Buy it if

Anyone spending more than six hours a day in a chair for work they intend to keep doing.

Skip it if

You sit for two hours a day. The arithmetic never arrives, and a ₹15,000 chair with decent lumbar support is the honest answer.

The record

The mesh task chair that turned ergonomic seating into design history, remastered in 2016 with a revised tilt and a new suspension weave. Twelve year warranty, three frame sizes.

What is good

  • Replacement parts available for chairs two decades old
  • Twelve year warranty that gets honoured without an argument
  • Mesh stays cool through an Indian summer in a way foam does not

What is not

  • The price is genuinely hard to justify before year six
  • Most Indian retailers stock only size B, which is wrong for smaller frames
