Coffee attracts more bad advice than any category we cover. The order of operations is settled and almost nobody follows it. Grind consistency first, water temperature second, brewer last. That order is why a twelve hundred rupee cone can beat a machine costing sixty times more, and why an expensive machine fed by a blade grinder still makes bad coffee.

V60 Dripper, 02

Start here and spend the savings on a grinder. Buy the plastic version rather than the glass, which is what cafes do behind the counter, for the unglamorous reason that plastic holds temperature better and survives a kitchen.

A better brewer fed by a bad grinder is a more expensive way to make the same cup.
