TUF Gaming F15
A durable budget laptop for the daily pile of work, media and games, provided you choose the configuration carefully.
This is the sort of budget machine that stays useful because it has room for the next job. It is not light, quiet or elegant, but it is a more sensible main computer than a cheaper thin-and-light that runs out of headroom the first time you need to do more than office work.
Someone who wants one budget laptop to cover a broad, demanding mix of tasks.
You need an all-day battery, silent fans or a very light machine for commuting.
I've used the Asus TUF F15 FX506LI. The linked listing may have a different configuration. The photographs are stock images.
The Asus TUF F15 is a long-running budget gaming laptop line. The model I used is the FX506LI. Hardware varies by configuration, so confirm the processor, graphics, memory and display in the linked listing before buying. A different F15 configuration may perform differently.
- Enough headroom for everyday work, media and games
- A practical choice when one laptop has to do everything
- Often better value than a thin-and-light at the same price
- Heavy and audible under sustained load
- Specifications vary widely between listings
